Flood Recovery Efforts Underway in Clark County After Heavy Rains
Clark County, Ohio, is grappling with significant flooding following persistent heavy rains throughout the week. Multiple roads, including Haddix Road, Selma Pike, and Spangler Road, remain closed due to high water levels, according to Clark County Engineer John Burr. Residents returning to their homes are being urged to exercise caution, as floodwaters may contain hazardous contaminants such as sewage, chemicals, and fuel. Mold growth is also a concern, as it can develop within 24 to 48 hours in damp conditions. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have advised residents to dry out structures promptly to prevent long-term damage. The Clark County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is collaborating with local and nonprofit organizations, including Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, to provide recovery assistance to affected residents.
