Court Blocks Israeli Plan to Use Crocodiles for Prison Security
The Jerusalem District Court has issued a temporary injunction against an Israeli government plan to place Nile crocodiles around Ketziot Prison, which houses Palestinian terrorists. The initiative, proposed by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Environmental Protection Minister Idit Silman, aimed to enhance security at the facility. However, the plan faced opposition from animal rights groups and the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, which argued there was no professional basis for such a measure. The court's decision halts the project pending further review, with the state required to respond by mid-August.
