National Weather Service Issues Air Quality Alerts in California and Colorado Due to Pollution
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued air quality alerts across parts of southern California and southeastern Colorado due to hazardous levels of pollution from windblown dust and wildfire smoke. In California, the Coachella Valley and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, including cities like Palm Springs and Indio, are under alert until Monday morning. Meanwhile, in Colorado, an advisory for wildfire smoke affects Bent, Prowers, Otero, Las Animas, and Baca counties until Sunday morning. The alerts are due to dangerous levels of fine particle pollution, which can penetrate deep into the lungs and bloodstream, posing serious health risks.
