U.S. Space Command to Inaugurate New Facility at Redstone Arsenal
General Stephen N. Whiting, the commander of U.S. Space Command, is set to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 29, 2026, at Redstone Arsenal. This event marks the official opening of U.S. Space Command's first dedicated operational facility on the Garrison. The move follows a directive from the President on September 2, 2025, to relocate the command. Since then, a transition team has been working in Alabama to facilitate this move. The new facility will enable the intelligence directorate of U.S. Space Command to commence its operational missions from Redstone, enhancing the command's capabilities in integrating military space power into global operations.
