Income Needed for Happiness in Canadian Cities: Victoria Tops the List
A study ranks 19 Canadian cities by the income needed to achieve happiness, with Victoria requiring the highest at $169,951 CAD annually. Vancouver and Toronto follow closely, both needing $166,982 CAD. The study, based on data from Remitly and Purdue University, considers the income level beyond which additional earnings do not improve life satisfaction. The analysis adjusts for purchasing power and inflation, using Numbeo's cost-of-living index. The gap between the highest and lowest thresholds in Canada is 21%, compared to a 60% gap in the U.S. between New York and Cincinnati.
