Beloit Advocacy Groups Host New Resident Ice Cream Social to Foster Community Connections
The Greater Beloit Economic Development Corp., the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce, Visit Beloit, and the Downtown Beloit Association are collaborating to host an inaugural New Resident Ice Cream Social. This event is scheduled for Wednesday evening at Visit Beloit, located at 656 Pleasant St. The social aims to welcome individuals who have recently moved to Beloit or South Beloit, providing them with an opportunity to connect with their new community. Attendees will receive a complimentary scoop of ice cream from Bastani Ice Cream & Sweet Shoppe, which opened in June. The initiative is inspired by a similar program in Rockford, Illinois, and seeks to create face-to-face connections that social media cannot replace. Kari Swirth, Executive Director of the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the importance of building local relationships to help new residents feel at home.
