Imperial County Transportation Commission Honored for Cross-Border Infrastructure Project
The Imperial County Transportation Commission (ICTC) has been recognized with a 2026 Sustainability Award by the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) for its significant improvements to the Calexico East Port of Entry. This project, which won the Economic Resilience Award, is a critical international transportation gateway that connects thousands of daily users to essential services and opportunities. The project involved expanding the bridge capacity to reduce traffic congestion, shorten wait times, and enhance safety for various types of vehicles and pedestrians. This initiative required extensive coordination among local, state, federal, and binational partners, including agencies in both the United States and Mexico, to maintain continuous border operations during construction.
