Chatham County High School Lockdown Lifted Following Shooting Near Campus
A high school in Chatham County, Georgia, Windsor Forest High School, was briefly placed on lockdown after a shooting occurred near its campus. The incident, which took place on a Tuesday, resulted in one person sustaining serious injuries. Although students had already been dismissed for the day, individuals participating in after-school activities were brought inside the school building for safety. Nearby, Georgia Southern University also issued a shelter-in-place order, which has since been lifted. Authorities have apprehended one suspect in connection with the shooting, while another suspect remains at large. Savannah Police are actively investigating the scene, with assistance from the Savannah-Chatham Board of Education Police due to the proximity of the school to the incident.
