Lynch, who previously challenged Graham in a primary, securing just under 29% of the vote, has committed an additional $5 million to his campaign. The unexpected passing of Graham, who had served in the Senate since 2003, has created a significant political shift in South Carolina. The state, known for its conservative leanings, last voted Democratic at the presidential level in 1976. Dr. Annie Andrews, a Democratic candidate and pediatrician, is also running for the seat, emphasizing the need for bipartisanship and addressing public health issues, particularly in light of vaccine hesitancy.
