NASA's Ike Theriot Prepares Astronauts for Lunar Missions with Advanced Training
Ike Theriot, a key figure at NASA's Johnson Space Center, is instrumental in preparing astronauts for future lunar missions. As the Flight Operations Surface Testing lead, Theriot integrates flight operations testing needs across the Artemis program, ensuring astronauts are equipped with the necessary data, procedures, and experience for lunar exploration. His work involves developing and executing simulated moonwalks and refining procedures for spacewalks at the International Space Station. Theriot has also contributed to the development of the Lunar Grid Reference System and has been involved in testing NASA's exploration spacesuit designs. His efforts extend beyond NASA facilities, participating in field campaigns that simulate lunar environments, such as the Kamestastin Crater in Canada.
