Kidney Transplant Reunites Terror Survivor with Rescuer’s Family
In a remarkable turn of events, Yonatan Rom, a survivor of a terrorist attack 24 years ago, donated a kidney to Reuven Tam, the brother of the man who saved his life. The connection was discovered shortly before the transplant at Clalit-Beilinson Hospital in Israel. Rom participated in a paired kidney exchange program and was matched with Tam, whose brother, Eyal Tam, had been the emergency response squad commander during the attack. This act of altruism has brought the two families together in an unexpected and meaningful way.
