Oregon Receives Disaster Declaration for Severe Winter Storms
President Donald Trump has approved a disaster declaration for Oregon in response to severe winter storms that resulted in record rainfall, flooding, landslides, and mudslides across eight counties. This declaration, announced by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), enables individuals, nonprofits, and various government entities to access federal financial assistance for recovery efforts. The storms left over 300,000 residents without power, led to the closure of multiple highways and interstates, and resulted in one fatality in Yamhill County. Oregon Governor Tina Kotek had requested the declaration in February, citing over $15 million in damages and losses in affected counties.
