Idaho Coffee Shop Owner Defends Asking Pro-Life Group to Leave, Citing Death Threats
Jim Sheehan, owner of Wydaho Roasters in Driggs, Idaho, has publicly defended his decision to ask a pro-life group, Students for Life of America, to leave his coffee shop. The incident, which went viral after Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, posted a video, occurred when the group gathered to discuss a prospective ballot measure to legalize abortion up to 24 weeks in Idaho. Sheehan stated that he had previously requested on social media that the group not use his business for their meeting, as their agenda did not align with his values. He explained that his coffee shop openly supports liberal causes, flies a pride flag, and hosts LGBTQ+ meet-ups. Sheehan acknowledged that his comparison of the group to the Ku Klux Klan was a mistake, but maintained his right as a business owner to choose which groups he hosts. Following the incident, Sheehan and his wife have reportedly received "nonstop death threats."
