Boulder Ensures PFAS Compliance Amid Drought Concerns
The City of Boulder, Colorado, has released its 2025 consumer confidence report, highlighting significant achievements in water quality and safety. According to the report, Boulder’s water system recorded no violations and detected no levels of six regulated PFAS compounds, including PFOS, PFOA, and PFBS, as per the U.S. EPA’s 2024 PFAS drinking water regulations. Additionally, the city maintained compliance with turbidity, disinfection byproduct, and microbial treatment standards. Levels of total trihalomethanes averaged 36.3 ppb, and haloacetic acids averaged 30.4 ppb, both well below federal maximum contaminant levels. Despite these successes, Boulder has entered a Drought Watch as of April 2026, urging residents to adopt voluntary water conservation measures to address ongoing dry conditions across Colorado’s Front Range.
