Cuban Immigrant Dies in Georgia ICE Detention Center
Denny Adán González, a 33-year-old Cuban immigrant, died in the Stewart detention center in Georgia, with his death being investigated as a suicide. González is the 18th person to die in ICE custody in 2026. He had been previously deported in 2020 and re-entered the U.S. in 2022. His death has raised concerns about the conditions in ICE detention centers and the mental health support provided to detainees. The Stewart facility, operated by CoreCivic, has seen multiple suicides in recent years.
