Florida Keys College President Fired Amid Allegations of Insubordination
The Board of Trustees of the College of the Florida Keys has dismissed President Jonathan Gueverra, citing a loss of confidence and insubordination. The decision, made with a 6-0 vote, may have violated state sunshine laws due to the lack of detailed notice and restricted public comment during the meeting. Gueverra, who has served as president since 2012, has 15 days to request an administrative hearing to challenge his termination. The board, composed mostly of new appointees by Governor Ron DeSantis, criticized Gueverra for his handling of state appropriations and contract renewal issues.
