Former NYC Fire Lieutenant Michael Donovan Publishes Memoir on 9/11 Experiences
Captain Michael Donovan, a former lieutenant with the New York City Fire Department, has published his memoir, 'Too Many Good Men,' detailing his visceral experiences at Ground Zero during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Donovan, who retired to Ludlow, Vermont, in 2003, sustained serious injuries to his back and lungs on that day and lost approximately 60 friends and colleagues. His memoir recounts the events of September 11, 2001, including the sights, sounds, and smells of the disaster, and the efforts of his fellow firefighters. Donovan spent years trying to document his memories, even consulting with the widows of his friends to fill in gaps. He completed the book after experiencing a second heart attack, dedicating it to his grandchildren to provide them with an understanding of his experiences and the sacrifices made.
