Hurricane Isaias to Bring Rain, Wind to Carolinas
Hurricane Isaias, now a Category 2 storm as of October 8, 2026, is expected to make landfall along the U.S. Gulf Coast later this week before impacting the Carolinas over the weekend. The storm will bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and a small risk of severe thunderstorms to the region. Rainfall amounts could reach 3-6 inches in the Blue Ridge Escarpment and higher elevations, creating a localized flash flooding threat. Gusty northeast winds are also expected, particularly in mountainous areas above 3,500 feet. The system will gradually move out by Sunday evening, with drier and cooler conditions returning early next week.
