North Charleston Police Arrest Two After Children Found in Dilapidated Home
North Charleston Police arrested Kendall Zayne Witherspoon, 25, and Christopher Lee Morris, 43, on Wednesday morning after discovering two young children in a severely dilapidated and reportedly abandoned home. Officers responded to a possible burglary report on Southern Street, where they encountered Morris leaving the property. Upon entering, they found the residence in disrepair, lacking running water and electricity, with broken windows, despite high temperatures. Inside, Witherspoon was found with two small children in strollers. A search of the property revealed drug paraphernalia, including a glass pipe, foil, and butane lighters, alongside widespread live and dead cockroaches. Both suspects have been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child and were booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center. The children were evaluated by EMS, transported to a hospital, and subsequently placed into emergency protective custody.
