Washington State Bar Exam Canceled Due to Technical Issues
The Washington State Bar Association has canceled the July 2026 administration of the NextGen Bar Exam due to unresolved technical issues. The exam, which was part of the inaugural administration of the NextGen Uniform Bar Examination, faced significant hardware and configuration problems at certain testing locations, affecting most standard-time applicants. Despite efforts by local testing staff and technical support, the issues could not be resolved in time, leading to the dismissal of applicants for the day. The Bar Association has offered affected applicants options, including a make-up exam in September, transferring to the February 2027 administration, or withdrawing with a refund. The National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) is working with jurisdictions to address the situation and will contact affected applicants regarding the application of the NCBE technology fee.
