APSA's Annual Report Highlights Asset Value Increase Amid Operational Deficit
The Administration for the Patrimony of the Apostolic See (APSA) released its annual report, showcasing a significant increase in asset value despite a decrease in annual returns. The report indicates that APSA's returns fell to €22.8 million in 2025, down from €62.2 million the previous year. Archbishop Giordano Piccinotti, APSA's president, emphasized that 2024 was an exceptional year due to a strategic realignment of investments. The 2025 results, while lower, represent a return to ordinary operating conditions. APSA's net assets rose by €89 million, driven by revaluation of gold holdings and real estate. However, the Vatican continues to face a structural budget deficit, with APSA's contribution to the curial budget dropping from €46 million to €22.7 million.
