Lancaster County Sheriff's Office Arrests Five in Multi-State Petition Fraud Investigation
The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office has announced the arrest of five individuals from various states, including Missouri, Nevada, Florida, and Washington, D.C., in connection with a fraudulent petition signature investigation. These arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into petitions aimed at altering Lincoln city election processes, such as adding term limits and changing voter eligibility. The investigation began after the Lancaster County Election Commission rejected over 65% of the signatures submitted by the Good Government Lincoln Project, suspecting them to be fraudulent. Chief Deputy Ben Houchin stated that the investigation has not found any political entity involvement, emphasizing that the individuals were acting independently. The U.S. Marshals Service assisted in the arrests, and more warrants are expected as the investigation continues.
