South Carolina Nursing Home CNA Arrested for Stealing Patient's Debit Card
Sheila L. Peeler, a former certified nursing assistant at the Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina, has been arrested for allegedly stealing a patient's debit card. The arrest was announced by South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson following a joint investigation by the Attorney General's Vulnerable Adults and Medicaid Provider Fraud unit and the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office. Peeler is accused of exploiting a vulnerable adult by taking the victim's debit card without permission and using it for personal purchases totaling over $500 within a six-month period. She faces charges of exploitation of a vulnerable adult, financial transaction card fraud, and financial transaction card theft.
