Mother and Son Charged in Homicide of PennWest California Student Karoline Heintz
An 18-year-old PennWest California student, Karoline Heintz, was found dead in her parked vehicle near the California Borough Library on Thursday. Pennsylvania State Police have charged Royce Moser, 18, with criminal homicide in connection with her death. His mother, Rachel Moser, has been charged with hindering apprehension, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse, and obstruction. According to authorities, Heintz's family tracked her location after she failed to check in, leading to the discovery of her body. Sources close to the investigation indicate Heintz was stabbed. The criminal complaint states that Royce Moser allegedly stabbed Heintz in her car after an argument, then placed her body in the back of her Jeep Cherokee. He then drove the vehicle to his mother's house, where Rachel Moser allegedly assisted in attempting to clean the car and dispose of evidence, including the knife and her son's clothes.
