US Senate Rejects Sanders' Resolutions to Block Military Aid to Israel Despite Democratic Support
The US Senate has rejected two resolutions introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders aimed at blocking military aid to Israel. Senate Joint Resolution 32, which sought to disapprove the sale of bulldozers used by Israeli combat engineers, was defeated with a vote of 40 to 59. Similarly, Senate Joint Resolution 138, which aimed to block the sale of 12,000 general-purpose bombs, was rejected 36 to 63. Despite the defeat, the resolutions garnered significant support from Democratic senators, with 38 Democrats backing the first resolution and 34 supporting the second.
