Bus Driver Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter Following Fatal I-95 Crash in Virginia
A tragic accident occurred on Interstate 95 in Stafford County, Virginia, where a motor coach bus crashed into six vehicles, resulting in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to dozens more. The bus, operated by E&P Travel, was traveling from New York City to Charlotte and was carrying approximately 34 passengers. The crash happened around 2:35 a.m. as traffic was slowing near a work zone. Virginia State Police have charged the bus driver, Jing S. Dong, 48, from Staten Island, with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. The deceased include Dmitri Doncev, his wife Ecaterina, and their children Emily and Mark, who were traveling to a family wedding. Another victim, Priscilla R. Mafalda, was also killed. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident, focusing on factors such as the bus's speed and the driver's actions prior to the crash.
