Democrats Struggle to Gain Latino Voter Support Amidst Declining Trump Favorability
A recent poll conducted by UnidosUS reveals that Latino support for Democratic House candidates remains stagnant, despite President Trump losing some of his previous gains with this key voting bloc in the 2024 election. The survey, which included 3,000 registered Hispanic voters, found that 54% of Latinos plan to vote for Democratic House candidates in the upcoming midterm elections, mirroring the percentage from 2024. Meanwhile, 27% of Latinos plan to vote for Republicans, and 19% remain undecided. The poll also highlights a decline in Latino support for Democrats over recent election cycles, with 60% support in 2022, 63% in 2020, and 69% in 2018. Despite 25% of Latino Trump voters indicating they might not vote for him again, 75% would still support him. The poll also shows that 60% of Latinos have a favorable opinion of congressional Democrats, compared to 34% for Republicans.
