Hong Kong Government Supports Aerospace Technology Development with New Strategy
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government has announced a comprehensive strategy to bolster the city's role in aerospace technology development. This initiative, outlined by Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Prof Sun Dong, aims to align Hong Kong's innovation ecosystem with national aerospace ambitions. The strategy includes enhancing research capabilities, talent training, and financial market support. Hong Kong's universities and research institutions have already contributed to national space missions, including lunar and Mars exploration. The government is also positioning Hong Kong as a financing hub for commercial aerospace companies, with the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited introducing Chapter 18C to facilitate listings for early-stage specialist technology companies.
