PennDOT Invites Public to Review Plans for South George Street Bridge Replacement in York County
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is inviting the public to view an online plans display for the proposed replacement of the Route 3001 (South George Street) bridge in York Township, York County. The project aims to replace the existing bridge, which spans a tributary to the South Branch of Codorus Creek, with a precast concrete box culvert. This replacement will increase the span length and slightly widen the roadway over the culvert. Minor approach work, including new pavement, drainage, guide rail, and signing upgrades, will also be undertaken. During the approximately two-month construction period, anticipated for the summer of 2028, the bridge will be closed to all traffic. A 2.4-mile car detour will be implemented using Route 3054, Country Club Road, and Route 4001, Grantley Road.
