Belizean Opposition Proposes National Border Security Strategy Amid Rising Threats
Opposition Leader Tracy Panton of Belize has introduced a comprehensive six-point national border security strategy during a recent House meeting. This proposal comes in response to growing security threats along Belize’s western, southern, and northern borders. Panton criticized the Briceño administration for its perceived lack of a coordinated response and called for the Opposition and social partners to be involved in shaping and executing a stronger strategy. The proposed plan includes establishing a coordinated national border security plan with clear priorities, responsible agencies, and deadlines, alongside parliamentary consultation.
