Motorcyclist Fatality and Injury in Cayuga County Collision Involving SUV
A tragic accident occurred on Route 31 in Mentz, Cayuga County, resulting in the death of one motorcyclist and serious injuries to another. The incident took place around 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, involving two motorcycles and a sport utility vehicle (SUV). According to New York State Police, a 33-year-old woman from Auburn was driving the SUV north on Centerport Road. She stopped at a stop sign at the intersection with Route 31 but failed to see the two westbound motorcycles, which had the right of way. The motorcycles collided with the passenger side of the SUV. Both motorcyclists were airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Branden Paradise, 35, of Lyons, Wayne County, succumbed to his injuries, while Matthew Hockenbrucker, 36, also of Lyons, remains hospitalized.
