Probation for Romanian Nationals in Lake Forest Jewelry Scam and Police Evasion
Two Romanian nationals, Florin Ghiocel and Alexandru Trandafir, have been sentenced to probation after scamming a victim out of $15,800 in a jewelry scheme in Lake Forest, Illinois. The scam involved selling fake gold jewelry to the victim, who later discovered its worthlessness. The incident escalated when the suspects attempted to flee from police, resulting in a collision with a squad car. Both men were charged with theft by deception and conspiracy. They have been sentenced to probation and community service, with time served credited towards their jail sentences.
