Nigerian Army Rescues 360 Hostages from Boko Haram in Borno State
The Nigerian army has successfully freed 360 individuals who were abducted by Boko Haram extremists in the southern region of Borno state, located in northeastern Nigeria. This operation took place in the Mandara mountains, a known stronghold of the militant group. The army's statement highlighted that the abductees, including children, were seized from various communities in Borno. Unfortunately, two infants died due to exhaustion from the harsh conditions they endured during their captivity. The remaining rescued individuals have been evacuated to safe locations where they are receiving medical care and humanitarian support. This operation is considered a significant success against Boko Haram, which has been a major security threat in Nigeria for over a decade.
