Connecticut Sees Decline in Active Voters, Majority Unaffiliated
Connecticut has experienced a decrease in its number of active voters, with a total loss of 18,197 voters this year, primarily among those unaffiliated with any political party. The decline represents a 0.8% reduction in active voters, with the Republican Party losing 1.3% of its members and minor parties losing 2.6%. The Democratic Party saw a smaller decrease of 0.4%. Currently, 41.5% of active voters in Connecticut are unaffiliated, a figure that has remained stable since 2025. The upcoming primary elections on August 11 require voters to be registered with a party, and the deadline for switching party affiliation has passed, although unaffiliated voters can still join a party until August 10.
