Kentucky Doctor Under Investigation After Baby Granddaughter Dies in Hot Car
A 10-month-old baby girl, Scottie Gwyn Crowell, died after being left in her grandmother's hot car for approximately eight hours in Madisonville, Kentucky. The grandmother, Dr. Stacey Fazenbaker, 61, allegedly forgot to drop the infant off at daycare on August 13. Temperatures that day reached 95 degrees Fahrenheit, with the car's interior peaking at 115 degrees. The tragedy was discovered when Scottie's father went to pick her up from daycare at 4 p.m. and was informed she had never been dropped off. Dr. Fazenbaker then realized her mistake and rushed to her car with co-workers, but it was too late. Madisonville Police Major Jason McKnight stated that officers attempted life-saving measures, but they were unsuccessful. Dr. Fazenbaker was tested for drugs and alcohol, with police not anticipating positive results. No charges have been filed yet, but police are continuing to investigate, and charges may be sought before a grand jury convenes.
