Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey Unveils New Affordable Housing Multiplex to Address City Shortage
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey announced the completion of a new affordable housing multiplex in the Windom neighborhood, aimed at addressing the city's housing shortage. The project, funded by the city's housing tax levy, converted underutilized space into a modern, multi-family home. This initiative is part of a broader effort to fill a backlog of 3,500 families waiting for affordable housing in Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA) celebrated the grand opening, with Executive Director Abdi Warsame highlighting the project's significance in providing homes for families. Leasing for the new units will begin next month, with families expected to move in by early September.
