Construction on Historic State Road 225 Bridge Halted Due to Environmental Concerns
Construction on the historic State Road 225 bridge in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, has been paused. The halt is due to the bridge's deteriorating condition and the discovery of a protected mussel species along the riverbank. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is conducting an environmental study to ensure that the construction will not harm the mussels. Additionally, INDOT is awaiting a permit to install a temporary causeway, which is necessary for the continuation of the project. State Senator Ron Alting has indicated that a revised timeline for the project is expected in the coming months.
