Greenville Housing Authority Launches Home-Based Childcare Program to Address Shortage
The Greenville Housing Authority, in collaboration with Greenville First Steps and other community partners, has launched a program to train home-based childcare providers. This initiative aims to address the shortage of affordable and reliable childcare in the region. The first group of graduates, consisting of five individuals, completed a 10-week training program and are now preparing to open their homes as licensed childcare centers. The program is designed to support communities with limited access to high-quality childcare, providing up to $4,000 in materials and supplies to new providers. This effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance childcare availability and support economic mobility in Greenville.
