National Endowment for the Humanities Awards $350K Grant to UC Riverside for Historical Archiving
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has awarded a $350,000 grant to the University of California, Riverside for a historical archiving project. The project, led by Steven Hackel, is titled 'Early California Population Project 2.0' and aims to add approximately 20,000 records to a database documenting California residents from 1769 to 1850. This initiative will also provide links to related primary source materials and enhance the digital reference resource's functionality. The grant is part of a larger $41.4 million funding package announced by the NEH for 81 humanities projects across the United States. Another California project receiving funding is Cal State Northridge, which was awarded $284,235 to document the careers of two U.S. congressional representatives and one state senator from California.
