Secretary of State Marco Rubio and UFC CEO Dana White have reached an agreement to utilize cage fights as a diplomatic tool, according to a statement from the State Department. This memorandum of understanding (MOU) is set to be signed on Thursday at the State Department, preceding a seven-fight event scheduled to take place on the White House lawn. The initiative aims to establish a public-private partnership to enhance sports diplomacy and promote the global growth of mixed martial arts. The UFC, an American-founded organization, has become a significant global sports platform, contributing to the United States' cultural and sports influence through its international events and athlete development. The announcement comes as President Trump prepares to host a mixed martial arts match on the White House lawn, highlighting the administration's interest in leveraging sports for diplomatic purposes.
