Libertarian Candidate Shelly Arnoldi Challenges Rep. Don Beyer in Virginia's 8th District Election
Shelly Arnoldi, a congressional candidate backed by the Libertarian Party of Northern Virginia, is challenging incumbent U.S. Rep. Don Beyer (D-8) in the upcoming November election. Arnoldi acknowledges the Democratic stronghold of the 8th District, which includes Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, and eastern Fairfax County, but aims to introduce important issues into the local political discourse. She is one of three challengers to Beyer on the ballot, alongside Republican Tony Sabio and independent Tim Sharman. Arnoldi's platform emphasizes cutting government waste, supporting civil liberties, and addressing voter frustration with the status quo. She believes there is an opportunity to build a coalition that transcends traditional partisan lines by appealing to voters concerned with issues such as parental rights, government accountability, and fiscal responsibility. Beyer, first elected in 2014, recently secured about two-thirds of the vote in a five-candidate Democratic primary.
