Haiti Police Officers Arrested Following Deadly Stampede at Historic Fortress
Authorities in Haiti have arrested seven individuals, including five police officers, in connection with a fatal stampede at La Citadelle, a historic fortress in Milot. The incident resulted in the deaths of at least 25 people and left dozens injured. The stampede occurred during an event organized by a local DJ, which attracted a large crowd, including many children and teenagers. Videos on social media showed attendees making the arduous journey to the fortress, some on foot and others on horseback. The cause of the stampede remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
