Rep. Ilhan Omar Responds to GOP Proposal to Ban Foreign-Born Lawmakers from Congress

The proposal, which would extend the natural-born citizen requirement currently applied to the presidency, targets lawmakers like Omar, who was born in Somalia and became a U.S. citizen in 2000. Mace's proposal has sparked controversy, as it would affect 26 current members of Congress who are not natural-born citizens. Omar, along with other targeted lawmakers, has criticized the proposal, viewing it as an attack on their legitimacy and loyalty to the U.S.
