Two Arrested in Sulphur Traffic Stop on Stolen U-Haul Linked to Burglary, Copper Theft, Drugs, and Weapons
Two men, Chad T. Daly, 52, of Lake Charles, and Jason E. Adaway, 49, of Sulphur, were arrested following a traffic stop in Sulphur, Louisiana. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a theft in progress at a business on Arnold Road on August 16. Deputies located a U-Haul truck, reportedly used by the suspects to steal parts from the business, and conducted a traffic stop on South Beglis Parkway. Inside the truck, deputies discovered stolen items from the business, burglary tools, a large number of tires, stripped copper wiring, power tools for wire stripping, brass knuckles, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. The U-Haul truck was found to be stolen, with its license plate and USDOT numbers switched. Both men claimed they borrowed the truck from another individual. They were booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center, with bonds set by Judge David Ritchie at $141,000 for Daly and $120,000 for Adaway.
