Gillette Man Accused of $50,000 Copper Wire Theft from Former Employer
A Gillette man is facing charges for allegedly stealing approximately $50,000 worth of copper wire from his former employer, Cyclone Drilling. The investigation began on September 25 when Cyclone Drilling reported the theft of about 1,550 feet of wire that occurred on September 21. Surveillance video from Cyclone and nearby businesses reportedly shows a dark gray Ford F-150, identified as the suspect's vehicle, entering and exiting the property around 3:45 a.m. The video also shows two individuals covering the license plates before entering the property and removing the covers afterward. The accused, Danney Lee Pollock, admitted to police that his truck was used in the incident but claimed he had loaned it to a friend. He also stated that a nearly $3,000 check he received from a salvage yard on the same day was for unrelated copper sold by another friend, despite the check being made out to him. Police found gray copper wire casing, identical to the stolen wire, in the bed of his truck.
