BRICS Nations Address Emerging Security Threats at 16th Meeting
The BRICS nations, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, convened for their 16th meeting of high representatives responsible for security matters. The meeting focused on the evolving security landscape, highlighting the need for cooperation against new threats such as cybercrime, organized crime, social media disinformation, and cross-border terrorism. Ajit Doval, India's National Security Advisor, emphasized the volatility of the global security environment due to military conflicts, geopolitical uncertainty, and technological advancements. The delegates agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation to address these challenges, with a particular focus on climate resilience, as climate change is seen as a significant factor affecting food and global security.
