Fire Devastates Chabad Synagogue in Ukraine, Investigation Underway
A massive fire broke out near the grave of Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, founder of the Chabad Hasidic movement, in Hadiach, Ukraine. The fire destroyed the main synagogue and caused extensive damage to the complex, which includes guest facilities and a kitchen. Initial assessments suggest an electrical short circuit as a possible cause, but investigations are ongoing. The site, a major Jewish prayer destination, continues to attract visitors despite the ongoing war in Ukraine. No injuries were reported, and local Chabad emissary Rabbi Shneur Zalman Deitsch and his family are safe.
