BRICS Nations Explore Common Payment System to Enhance Financial Connectivity
BRICS countries are advancing efforts to develop a common payment system aimed at enhancing financial cooperation among member nations. The proposed BRICS Card would facilitate seamless cross-border transactions, allowing citizens to access domestic financial resources while traveling or conducting business within the BRICS space. This initiative seeks to build on existing national payment systems, such as Russia's MIR, India's UPI, and Brazil's PIX, to create an interoperable framework that respects national sovereignty. The BRICS Card is designed to improve financial connectivity for individuals, including tourists, students, and small entrepreneurs, by reducing transaction friction and enhancing economic integration.
