U.S. Energy Department Awards Entergy $13.7 Million to Enhance Grid Reliability in Southern States
The U.S. Energy Department has granted Entergy $13.7 million in federal funding. This investment aims to improve power delivery for Entergy's customers and communities, fostering economic growth across Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The funding will facilitate the deployment of advanced transmission technology to bolster grid performance and unlock additional transmission capacity. Specifically, Entergy and its electric companies in these states will implement dynamic line rating technology, conduct targeted geographic surveys, and upgrade substations and hardware across 1,125 miles of existing transmission lines. These enhancements are designed to manage energy infrastructure more effectively in areas experiencing increased load growth due to new industrial development, manufacturing, and data center expansion. The project is expected to rapidly increase transfer capability on selected transmission corridors by at least 25%.
