Massachusetts Memorial Day Closures: Post Offices and RMV Closed, Most Stores Open
On Memorial Day in Massachusetts, a federal holiday dedicated to honoring military personnel who have died in service, various public services and businesses have adjusted their operating hours. According to a report, post offices across the state are closed in observance of the holiday. Similarly, all Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) offices and service centers are not operational. However, most retail stores, including grocery chains like Market Basket and Big Y, remain open for regular hours, although pharmacies within these stores may have limited hours. Liquor stores are restricted from selling alcohol until after noon, as per Massachusetts law. Public transportation services, such as the MBTA, are operating on a Sunday schedule, with specific ferry services adhering to weekend schedules.
